I have just been looking through the New North Cyprus Website Tourist Guide and thought you might be interested in the translations of village names in Northern Cyprus. I have copied a small piece from each article.
The word Esentepe translates to mean windy hill, for Esentepe village this is a plus as the town is not so much windy but comfortably cooled by the breeze rising from the Mediterranean sprawling out in front.
Karakum does has its own sandy bay and in fact the name Karakum translates into ‘dark sand’
Translate the word Tatlisu and you have ‘Sweet Water’. Tatlisu village is set in the mountains.
Yesiltepe translated means ‘green hill’.
There are a couple of translations given for Guzelyurt. The first is ‘beautiful country’ and the second ‘good earth’, both being very apt! Neither can fully describe the beauty of Guzelyurt or the surrounding area.
This Tour guide is a site packed full of information on many of the popular areas of North Cyprus. It was sponsored by Donaghy and Beyler, Estate and Letting Agents in Northern Cyprus who also supplied loads of great images for the site. News - Northern Cyprus - The TRNC - Visitors Visas
Filtering through is News that Visitors to the TRNC are only being issued 30 day visas. Previously visas were issued for a 90 day period.
If you do intend to stay longer than 30 days but no longer than 90 days. The advice being given is to produce your flight ticket and request your visa is made out for the necessary period. If you intend to stay longer than 90 days then the best advice would be to start applying for temporary residency immediately.
It is said that the Police at Ercan do have the authority to make extensions and so if you wish to stay longer it is best to explain your situation to them and request that they issue an appropriate visa.
We will of course keep these pages updated as and when we hear of anything changing.
You can also keep up to date of the situation by checking this Forum

Northern Cyprus - Turkish Title - Land - Karsiyaka
Private Sale
Hi
Last week my Pre 74 Turkish Title Land located at Karsiyaka was valued at £65,000.00 it is on the market @ £60,000.00
But for a quick sale I have decided to reduce it to £50,000
It is a nice plot suitable to build two 3 bed villas or maybe 1 large
5 mins to the beach
Sea and mountain views
If my plans hadn't changed I would still be holding onto it, so for anyone wishing to build a Villa, this is a really good opportunity to buy Pre 74 Turkish Title Land at a good price.
You can email me at shopnorthcyprus@yahoo.co.uk
or view the details @ www.shopnorthcyprus.co.uk

I've won the UK national lottery sweepstake, have you, I bet there's millions of us
Sorry this message of warning will have to be in English, maybe oneday I could writ it in Turkish
What is the point of spam and what are the benefits to those who send it. I am receiving so much spam at the moment, I guess just like the rest of you. It makes me wonder what the benefit of sending it out.
The latest one Not Viagra Not stocks and share or even handbags and watches No nothing that trivial, can you guess, then congratulate me because I’m a lucky winner of the UK National Lottery that I never even entered.
Is it spam or is it a scam.
Whatever it is I guess my bank account will still have the same balance this time next week as I have no intention of sending back the validation form required to stake my claim.
Nope they wont be receiving my details or even name of
my beneficiary,
residential address,
date and place of birth,
phone/fax numbers,
name and address of my next of kin,
sex (definitely not),
occupation (they should get another one),
my marital status,
my nationality and I guess from the following part of the validation form, something that would be requested in the next email I receive, my bank details.
To anyone reading this who is entering the real UK national lottery I wish you the very best luck. Email me if you win and I will send you my details and claim validation ha ha.
Spam Scam or Ham or even Humbug, Winner of the UK National Sweepstake Lottery, I don’t think so.
